A coastal landscape photograph by Kev Peirce, showing waves crashing against dark and lichen covered orange rocks at the Bay of Fires. In the foreground, grey granite boulders splashed with vibrant orange lichen sit alongside low green coastal shrubs. White water churns dramatically around a cluster of offshore rocks under a heavy, overcast grey sky, with distant headlands visible across the sea.

A close, straight on exterior shot of a red brick church wall illuminated by soft daylight. The facade features four tall, narrow arched windows fitted with decorative stained glass, alongside a small circular window framed with white masonry. A corrugated iron roof overhangs the top edge. Green foliage occupies the lower left corner, and a small flight of concrete steps leads to a closed white side door at the far right.

Generations Resting Side by Side.

A photo from my other page, Gardens Of The Silent, where I post all of my cemetery photos.

Lobethal Cemetery, Lobethal, South Australia.

Lobethal General Cemetery was established on 26 October 1886 on Crown Land Section 5162 in the Hundred of Onkaparinga. Its creation followed the closure of two earlier cemeteries near Lobethal’s Lutheran churches, which were deemed too close to domestic water sources by the South Australian Board of Health. The new site, located about two miles from town, was chosen to ensure sanitary burial practices.

Today, Lobethal Cemetery holds nearly 2,000 memorials and remains a quiet testament to the region’s settler history, faith, and resilience.
